#firstfridayartwalk #visitmacon "Rhapsody in Blue" at @green_light_gallery 6/6 5-8PM I created this series not only for women with painful cycles, to turn their period into their superpower, but for all people in pain. Each piece in this collection is crafted with love and care, as I have actually ‘lived’ the artwork, creating a piece of art for each phase that I live through, so each piece has a story behind it. The works are from my ongoing 'Every Phase' series, and the images + writing reveals how to biohack and leverage the energy of each of the phases in your life. The collection will feature original #cyanotypeart made with water and the sun as my 'darkroom'. The #cyanotype , which is also known as ferroprussiate, blueprint, or sun-print is a very old and simple form of photography employing the organic aspects of light, glass (or a negative), and time. It is one of my favorite camera-less photographic techniques I learned when I first started learning about photography. And very fitting, being that the first woman ( #annaatkins ) to ever make a photograph made a book of cyanotypes. Every Phase #51 Aries♈️ met Atlas💪 #follicularphase original #cyanotype with #copperleaf (made with the sun, fire, water & hydrogen peroxide) 22 x 30 DM for Purchase Inquiry Welcome to The Southern Zodiac. For this 5th year of the Every Phase series, I have chosen to make art with the natural elements of the place I love most, the southeast US and the only place I’ve ever felt like I could call home, and that’s Macon, Georgia. This is a marriage of my physical world, with the spiritual, expanding the view of cyclical living. I have also reset the timing of the series to begin in the natural new year (not based on the Gregorian Calendar created by the Catholic Church, but our current Spring) starting with Aries - The first sign, fire, the Cardinal Ram, the initiator. The format will remain monthly with the 4 phases divided seasonally, starting off with the first 3 months as... Follicular (Spring turns to Summer), leading us to Ovulatory (Summer turns to Fall), leading us to Luteal (Fall turning to Winter), then completing the year with Menstrual (Winter turning to Spring) which starts the cycle over again. Each season and the element of each sign brings energy that is reflected in our monthly cycles. This format honors the weekly phase of body + brain chemistry and illustrates it's place in the completion of a cycle over the course of the month. The art celebrates the phase, its place within the cycle, and the cycle's place within the zodiac. The follicle-stimulating hormone sent by the pituitary gland in the follicular phase inspires learning new things & is the time for seizing the opportunity to architect how we want the rest of our cycle to go. In Greek mythology, #Aries represents the golden ram that carried Phrixus and Helle to safety, and later became a symbol of our inner drive, our boundaries, and salvation.
